| Overview The
first international workshop on Sensor Networks
and Applications (SNA’08) will be held in Hainan
Island, China, December 13 ~ 15, 2008 (in conjunction
with FGCN’08). The workshop interest focuses on
sensor networks and their applications, and includes
the following three research scopes: Wireless Sensor
Network (WSN), Underwater Sensor Network (UWSN),
and Semantic Sensor Network (SSN). WSN includes research topics related
with wireless networks, which consist of spatially
distributed devices using information such as temperature,
pressure, vibration, and sound from sensors. UWSN
focuses on issues for
underwater environments, especially oceans. Recently,
many researchers have been trying to apply the sensor
network concepts to the underwater sensor network
for ocean monitoring, resource inquiry, pollution
supervision, and disaster prevention. Finally, in
computer science, semantic-relevant research is
actively studied, and sensor networks technology
has been rapidly developed. It is necessary to deploy
multiple sensor networks to gather interested information.
SSN includes subjects to deal with the issues. This workshop will support
an opportunity for industry and academic professionals
to discuss the latest issues and progress. The workshop
will publish high quality papers which are closely
related to the various theories and practical applications
in SNA'08. Furthermore, we hope that this workshop
will provide us with a good chance to share creative
ideas regarding SNA'08 with other researchers and engineers
from institutions around the world.
